PARAJIU-JITSU CATEGORIES

FUNCTIONAL CLASSIFICATION

Important notes

[I] The new functional classification aims to universalize the categories of ParaJiu-Jitsu worldwide. [II] All new categories present numbered subclasses where subcategory 1 (one) refers to the most severe form of the disability contemplated in that category. [III] Categories where there are no subdivisions are also designated with the numeral 1 (one). In this way, future updates should be included in the sequence (2, 3, 4, etc). [IV] Letters of the alphabet that have not been used in this version are reserved in the sequence for possible future updates. [V] During the transition period to the new functional classification, two pieces of information must be shared with users for educational purposes: "Phonetic Analogy" refers to the English phoneme used for association with the new nomenclature, such as Amputee for Class A and Blind for Class B. "Former Class" refers to the nomenclature used until 2021 to designate the functional classification of the category in question.

CLASS B2

BLIND

PREVIOUS CLASS: B2

Partial visual impairment. It includes individuals who have figure perception, with the ability to recognize the shape of a hand up to a visual acuity of 2/60 or a visual field of less than five degrees. Parathletes in this category compete with the aid of an audio description of the score and minutes throughout the fight.

CLASS B3

BLIND

PREVIOUS CLASS: B3

Subnormal visual impairment. It includes individuals who can define images with a visual acuity of 2/60 to 6/60 or a visual field between 5 and 20 degrees. Also includes monocular. Parathletes in this category compete with the aid of an audio description of the score and minutes throughout the fight.
