A propos Joburg Grappling Club
The JGC is the brainchild of founder and head coach, Jamie Gemmell. Jamie has been a part of the South African Grappling community for the past 11 years. After training at and owning one of the Bigger Gyms in the country, Jamie saw the opportunity to launch something different to the status quo of grappling gyms in South Africa. Jamie has competed and trained all over from Angola to Los Angeles, Scotland to London. Jamie has been and is an active member of various Federations, notably he is the secretary general of the Jiu Jitsu and Grappling Association of South Africa, (JJGASA). Jamie received his Black Belt in BJJ in 2020. He is a big believer in cross training, and he competes and trains in Judo under Sensei Allerdyce Fulton, (Jamie is currently a green belt). As Head Coach of the JGC, Jamie will be teaching every class. This will allow for a consistent training schedule and for him to become familiar with pupils’ progress and personal style of grappling.
